Elon Musk just revealed Starship’s major update!
The Starship, SpaceX’s in-development rocket designed to send the first humans to Mars, is getting bigger and bolder than ever before.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk told his 148 million Twitter followers Sunday that the stainless-steel rocket can produce up to 9000 tons of force at sea level!
“Looks like we can increase Raptor thrust by ~20% to reach 9000 tons (20 million lbs) of force at sea level”, Musk tweeted.
To consider, at this time, with all 33 Raptors at full throttle, Starship can produce almost 7600 tons (16.7 million pounds) of thrust at liftoff.
This even beat the previous record-holder – the Soviet N1 rocket – by nearly 60%.
To imagine the new power, wow, how cool!
In fact, this monster can reach this power when it is fitted with 42 Raptor engines. 33 raptor engines on Super Heavy and 9 engines on Starship.
