Lucid Stock vs. Tesla Stock – Lucid CEO vs. Elon Musk Sparks EV Feud!
In this video, we will compare two of the most popular electric vehicle (EV) stocks in the market: Tesla and Lucid. We will also discuss the recent feud between their CEOs, Elon Musk and Peter Rawlinson, over executive compensation and performance.
Tesla is the undisputed leader in the EV industry, with a market cap of nearly $800 billion and over 800,000 vehicles delivered in 2022. Tesla has also achieved impressive growth and profitability, despite facing supply chain challenges and rising competition. Tesla expects to grow its vehicle deliveries by 50% annually in the long run, and has ambitious plans to expand its product portfolio, battery technology, and global presence.
Lucid is a newcomer in the luxury EV segment, with a market cap of around $16 billion and no revenue yet. Lucid aims to challenge Tesla with its flagship model, the Lucid Air, which boasts superior performance, range, and efficiency. Lucid plans to start delivering its vehicles in the second half of 2023, and has a production capacity of up to 365,000 units per year at its Arizona factory.
However, Lucid has also faced some controversy recently, after it was revealed that its CEO Peter Rawlinson received a whopping $379 million in total compensation in 2022. This made him the highest-paid automotive CEO in the US, and drew criticism from Tesla’s Elon Musk, who tweeted: “Beware any company where leadership compensation is not linked to performance.”
Musk himself received over $23 billion of stock options in 2021 after Tesla hit several market-cap and earnings milestones. However, he declined to take a salary or any stock awards or options in 2022. Musk also argued that Rawlinson’s pay was not justified by Lucid’s performance, as the company’s stock price plummeted by over 80% since its peak in November 2021.
