Elon Musk LEAKED: US Navy Tested Tesla’s Laser Weapon System

Tesla and other companies have achieved advancements in car battery technology, and now the Pentagon is using these advancements to acquire high-powered laser weapons that can destroy anything from hostile drones to missiles. How this works? Let’s find out in today’s episode!

Lockheed Martin (LMT) was given a contract by the Air Force Research Laboratory to create high-power fibre lasers that will be tested on a tactical fighter jet by as part of the ongoing development on laser weapons. The Air Force lab’s so-called SHiELD or Self-protect High Energy Laser Demonstrator program includes the fighter jet demonstration project.

The largest defence business in the country, Lockheed, employs Rob Afzal as a senior fellow for laser weapon systems. “You can power the laser like you can power the car off a battery system,” he said. We would utilize the same battery technology because it is necessary to deliver a significant amount of energy quickly.

In fact, effective lithium-ion battery technology, which is frequently used in electric vehicles, is now being used to support power production and storage options for military laser applications. In the same way that a Tesla Model S driver can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a matter of seconds, it enables lasers to produce huge bursts of energy extremely quickly for incinerating enemy objects.

Afzal declared, “We’re just going to have better power systems for the laser as the batteries get smaller, cheaper, have more power density, and are more dependable.” In comparison to laser weapon technology, batteries are more advanced.

In addition to bringing about a revolution in lithium-ion battery technology and electric vehicle technology, several analysts credit Tesla for lowering battery prices and opening up the market for power storage outside of the automotive industry. However, research firm Technavio forecasted that by 2030, China would exceed the United States in terms of research and development spending on laser systems. The Tesla brand competes with other lithium-ion battery manufacturers.

“It’s funny how a lot of things that happened in the auto industry can filter over into new capabilities on most other technologies, and lasers is one of them,” said Richard Bagnell, program manager for SHiELD at the Air Force lab back in 2017.

The Lockheed contract to create a laser for a fighter jet, according to Dan Goure, a former Pentagon official who is now senior vice president of the Virginia-based Lexington Institute, demonstrates how far laser weapon development has advanced in terms of becoming more compact.
According to a press release from Lockheed, the company’s team will “focus on developing a compact, high efficiency laser within challenging size, weight, and power constraints,” adding that the laser system will be “pod mounted on the tactical fighter jet.”
