FAA Big Announcement to Launch 25 SpaceX Starship at Starbase! F9 Engine FAIL…
Mixed emotions! That’s what SpaceX fans have been experiencing recently.
On the bright side, there’s good news from Starship as the FAA has just provided an update on its future in Texas, promising an exciting period with numerous upcoming flights.
However, Falcon 9 recently encountered an unexpected issue during its latest flight, marking a somber milestone after nearly a decade of successful missions.
But don’t fret, not everything is dire. Let’s dive into these updates on today’s episode of Great SpaceX.
FAA Big Announcement to Launch 25 SpaceX Starship at Starbase! F9 Engine FAIL…
Alright, let’s kick off today with some exciting news!
SpaceX is ramping up its Starship project to new heights. They’re aiming for 25 annual flights from Starbase. Yes, you heard that correctly—25 flights! This means instead of waiting several months between launches, we might soon see 2 to 3 flights per month.
And that’s not just a plan anymore—it’s now officially under consideration by the FAA, a crucial step for SpaceX’s Starship advancement. In their latest update, the agency stated: “We are committed to assessing the environmental impacts of all FAA-licensed commercial space operations. We will hold public meetings on @SpaceX’s proposal to increase the number of launches and landings of the Starship/Super Heavy Vehicle in Boca Chica, Texas.”

In the attached document, the FAA outlines specific requirements, including:
Up to 25 annual Starship/Super Heavy orbital launches,
Up to 25 annual landings of Starship,
Up to 25 annual landings of Super Heavy.
Regarding the process, the FAA indicated that its review will encompass:
Public safety issues, such as overflight of populated areas and payload contents.
National security or foreign policy concerns.
Insurance requirements for the launch operator.
Potential environmental impacts.
In addition to the public meeting, the FAA announced plans to release additional information about the Draft Environmental Assessment for public review and comment by late July 2024. The agency will then host four in-person public meetings and one virtual public meeting.
