According to the latest update, the Polaris Dawn mission is now scheduled to launch at 3:38 a.m. EDT on August 27 from Launch Complex 39A. SpaceX announced the new schedule on X, stating, “Targeting Tuesday, August 27, for launch of Polaris Dawn, the first of the @PolarisProgram’s three human spaceflight missions designed to advance the future of spaceflight.” The tweet also included a one-minute video featuring Polaris Dawn astronauts in SpaceX EVA suits.
The launch was originally set for August 26 but was postponed by a day to allow additional time for teams to complete preflight checkouts. SpaceX explained: “The new date allows additional time for teams to complete preflight checkouts ahead of next week’s launch”. Mission commander Jared Isaacman commented, “We will happily take an extra day to ensure readiness.”

In preparation for the mission, SpaceX has accelerated key activities. On August 19, the four astronauts were flown to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center for pre-flight quarantine.
SpaceX also moved quickly to ready the flight hardware. The Dragon spacecraft for this mission, named Resilience, was transported to Florida early. SpaceX recently shared images from a room housing two Dragon spacecraft, one of which was the Polaris Dawn prototype, proudly displaying the mission symbol. The other spacecraft, Freedom, is set to launch Crew-9 next month. Elon Musk reacted to the images with a humorous tweet: “Two Dragons ready for flight.”
