A new era in car manufacturing may be starting with Tesla’s Investor Day event this week, according to mounting evidence. a world where EVs are not just significantly less expensive to use and maintain than gasoline and diesel vehicles, but also less expensive to produce.
“Investor Day” is the most recent in a series of live broadcast events that provide information on the technology Tesla has been creating and what it has planned for the future, including Tesla’s Autonomy Day in 2019, Battery Day in 2020, AI Day I in 2021, and AI Day II in 2022.
Elon Musk stated in a tweet two weeks ago that the focus of Investor Day will be on manufacturing and scalability. The last component of Tesla’s plan to speed up the switch to electric vehicles.
What makes EV manufacturing so crucial?
Globally, there are more than a billion cars that run on gasoline and diesel. A billion exhaust pipes are responsible for the hazardous pollution that is released into the air that we all breathe each day.
One billion exhaust pipes pour carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, accounting for more than 20% of yearly world emissions.
We need to remove as many of the billions of gasoline and diesel fart boxes from the road as soon as possible if humans are to reduce the cancer-causing toxic air pollution in our cities, increase our prospects of reversing the climate crisis, and maintain a habitable planet.
The most reasonable first step that can be taken in order to do this is to cease selling new hazardous fart boxes, which only worsen the issue.
In 2022, about 80 million new cars were sold globally. In 2022, an extra 70 million (or 87%) new petrol and diesel pollution machines were born upon the planet earth. Roughly 10 million of these were entirely electric.
Given that these fossil fuel burning stinkers have an average lifespan of more than ten years, all of the gasoline and diesel vehicles sold in 2022 will still be spewing pollution into our cities and into our lungs in 2032.
Clean air in our cities will be a reality sooner rather than later if we stop selling new gasoline and diesel vehicles.
Three main goals can help hasten the shift away from these pollution-pump machines: (1) Redesign cities as soon as possible to promote biking and walking. (2) Scale up and electrify public transportation quickly. (3) Accelerate the production of electric vehicles.
The third goal will be explained at Investor Day by the largest electric vehicle manufacturer in the world.
The way to a world powered entirely by sustainable energy.
