Elon Musk Just CONFIRMED A Military Drone As SpaceX’s Next Big Thing!

The Ukrainian military has not been reluctant to employ Starlink access terminals since receiving them last year. In earlier interviews, officers from the Aerorozvidka aerial reconnaissance unit indicated that their drone pilots relied on Starlink to complete missions, tying the UAV team to the artillery one to generate target acquisition on Russian equipment and positions.
Ukraine’s military recently revealed plans to deploy attack forces that would be outfitted with Starlink hardware to build fleets of interoperable drones. This information was made public by officials from the country.
Musk stated that his business forbade Starlink from being utilized by Ukrainian military in long-range drone strikes while appearing on a Russian state TV program last month. His comments were rather conflicting. Whether or not these restrictions are put into effect, one thing is for certain: since Starlink was first announced in 2015, its potential has well outgrown its basic goal of offering underserved areas high-speed internet access.

According to him, Starlink has many advantages over other satellite communications networks, which likely adds to its appeal for outfitting everything from infantry squads to armored vehicles to being directly integrated into drones once that technology becomes more practical.
Starlink antennas are currently too big and heavy for small drones. However, there has been a push for experimentation from the defense sector. The Canadian company RDARS revealed in November that it had integrated Starlink technology into its Eagle Nest base station, enabling it to transfer data to the company’s Eagle Eye military drone while it was in flight.
The base station communicates with a control center through Starlink, enabling the operator to command the drone and receive imagery from it. The company has stressed the possibility of mounting the dish on the drone itself, even if RDARS has only integrated it to the drone’s ground station.
Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, the U.S. According to Naval Forces Central Command in the Middle East, a NATO drill in Portugal involved the use of Starlink to link up unmanned aircraft, ships, and undersea vehicles operated by allied forces. To enable remote drone flights, Australia-based Unleash Live and Starlink partnered in December 2021. The business claimed to have successfully controlled the system’s flight from 200 kilometers (124 miles) distant thanks to access to Starlink’s low-orbiting satellites.
