Elon Musk Announced SpaceX About To Fire 33 Engines of B7 & Then To Conduct 1st Orbital Launch
Ship 24 also known as S24 was stacked onto super heavy booster 7 on Monday, Oct 12th. That stack was actually for the SpaceX teams to conduct fuelling tests followed by a wet dress rehearsal and prepare the static fire test of booster’s 33 – raptor 2 engines. But there was a twist in the plan as booster 7 had a small tilt towards the integration tower which caused misalignment after the stack. SpaceX teams noticed this the following day and started destacking ship 24 on Oct 16th. “We are proceeding very carefully. If there is a RUD on the pad, Starship progress will be set back by 6 months.”, said Elon musk via Twitter.
Now, on Oct 20th, again SpaceX stacked ship 24 atop booster 7 after correcting the alignment issues. This time they are ready for a full cryogenic Wet Dress Rehearsal in which they will fully load the rocket with thousands of tons of liquid methane and oxygen propellant and conduct a countdown that ends just before the ignition of the 33 raptor 2 engines. This test is an exact rehearsal of the launch day operations except for the engine ignition. SpaceX has listed possible road closures from Monday, Oct 24th till Friday, Oct 28th. This is a clear indication that from next week onwards they are gonna conduct the WDRs of the super heavy booster.
