Elon Musk is no stranger to controversy. Whether it’s tweeting stuff that influences the stock market, getting baked on podcasts, or making the decision to name one of his ten kids X AE A-12 [pronounced X Ash A-12], the tech billionaire is as erratic as he is ambitions. With his fresh acquisition of Twitter, he seems as determined to colonize social media as he does Mars. During his first video call with Twitter employees in June – before Musk officially owned the company and was embroiled in a messy legal dispute – he reportedly began musing on alien life and extraterrestrial civilizations. He’s even jokingly called himself an alien trying to get back to his home planet.
But Musk’s SpaceX and NASA are working on a question that’s far from a joke: Is there, or was there, life on Mars?
Welcome back to Factnomenal. Today, we’re exploring the possibility of life on Mars, and what Elon and NASA are doing to discover it – or destroy it.
