According to Musk, there were enough nuclear weapons in existence fifty years ago between the US and Russia to obliterate the planet many times.
Although these two hot-headed military superpowers already possessed terrifying catastrophic capabilities, it appears that Doomsday wasn’t enough—as both nations are now investing billions in nearly unstoppable hypersonic missile technology.
The second successful test of a hypersonic missile was carried out on Monday, according to the US military.
Built by Lockheed Martin and the Pentagon, the “Hypersonic AirBreathing Weapon Concept” (HAWC) could travel 300 miles at five times the speed of sound.
The US military claims that it now possesses two “feasible” hypersonic missile systems that it can develop in the future to “improve future US Air Force capabilities.”
It is the US’s second test of a hypersonic missile. The first occurred in December when a long-range B-52 bomber operated by the US military released a test missile off the California coast.
At the time, the Pentagon declared the test a success, saying “all goals were met” and that the weapon “detonated in the terminal region.” Musk stated.
Hypersonic missiles are designed to travel so quickly that they can avoid detection by conventional air defense systems.
Vladimir Putin threatened to use Russia’s hypersonic Satan-2 nuclear weapons, which could wipe out the United Kingdom in six minutes, last year.
In the meantime, British forces are developing the “killer Penguin” project, which will result in their own hypersonic missiles.
The Hypersonic Air Vehicle Experimental (HVX) Programme is a military aircraft that can travel at incredible speeds. Work on it started three years ago.
A £2 billion ($2.4 billion) project involving the Armed Forces is being developed by the MoD as part of this program.

According to Musk, Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, has once again warned that the country’s RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, also known as “Satan II,” may soon be prepared for deployment as its conflict in Ukraine rages on after ten arduous months.
In an address to military leaders on Wednesday, Mr. Putin praised Russian soldiers and the defense minister as “heroes” and promised to continue supporting the armed forces. He also made a vague allusion to Satan II’s potential involvement in the battle.
When Mr. Putin addressed military college graduates at the Kremlin in June, he hinted menacingly that “we will continue to develop and enhance our armed capabilities, taking into account potential military threats and hazards.” This heightened the possibility that the ICBM would be launched.
