Elon Musk FINALLY FIRES UP The Falcon Heavy For It’s Fifth Launch!

By a factor of two, Falcon Heavy is the most powerful operating rocket in the entire planet. The Falcon Heavy is able to lift roughly 64 metric tons (141,000 kg) into orbit, which is more than twice the payload of the next closest operating vehicle, the Delta IV Heavy. Falcon Heavy is made up of three Falcon 9 nine-engine cores, each of which has 27 Merlin engines. At liftoff, these engines provide more than 5 million pounds of thrust—the equivalent of about eighteen 747 airplanes. This weekend, the fifth flight of the Falcon Heavy is planned. And so, let’s find out what is the engineering marvel behind this rocket!

A liftoff is scheduled for this weekend using SpaceX’s formidable Falcon Heavy rocket, which has already flexed its might.

At NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Florida’s Pad 39A, SpaceX just completed a “static fire” test with the Falcon Heavy, igniting all 27 of the rocket’s first-stage Merlin engines while the spacecraft remained fixed to the ground.

Static burns are regular prelaunch testing for SpaceX, and the Falcon Heavy is in fact getting ready to launch soon.

SpaceX said on Tuesday (Jan. 10) via Twitter that “Full duration static fire of Falcon Heavy of complete; targeting no earlier than Saturday, January 14 for launch of the USSF-67 mission from Florida.” The tweet also included a picture of the static fire.

The United States Space Force will use Falcon Heavy to launch USSF-67, as the mission’s name implies. The most recent Falcon Heavy flight, USSF-44, which launched on November 1, 2022, also had the nation’s newest military branch as a customer.

A few classified payloads were sent by USSF-44 into geostationary orbit (GEO), which is located around 22,200 miles (35,700 kilometers) above Earth. According to SpaceNews, USSF-67 will likewise aim for GEO and will send a spacecraft that can carry six small satellites there along with a military communications satellite.

The first Falcon Heavy mission since June 2019 was USSF-44. According to observers in the space business, the main cause of that lengthy gap was a delay in the customer payloads’ preparedness.

Three initial stages of SpaceX’s reliable Falcon 9 rocket are fastened together to form the Falcon Heavy. The payloads are carried by an upper stage that is affixed to the center booster.

The initial stages of both the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy are made to be reused. According to SpaceNews, the two side rockets on USSF-67 will be recycled from USSF-44 and will make another attempt to land in order to be reused in the future. According to SpaceNews, the center core of USSF-67 is brand-new and won’t try to land on Saturday.

The scheduled launch on Saturday will keep SpaceX busy. 40 internet satellites were lofted by Elon Musk’s company on Monday night (Jan. 9) for the London-based company OneWeb, and 51 of its own Starlink broadband craft are scheduled to be launched on Tuesday night.

Additionally, on Monday, SpaceX’s robotic Dragon supply ship departed the International Space Station for its return to Earth. SpaceX’s CRS-26 resupply mission for NASA is anticipated to come to a close on Wednesday (Jan. 11) when Dragon is anticipated to splash down off the Florida coast.
