Elon Musk FINALLY LAUNCHED “Starshield”!
In order for SpaceX to start deploying a new generation of Starlink satellites, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has at long last granted it the authorization required. The FCC only approved the launch of 7,500 v2 satellites (at altitudes beyond 500 kilometers) as opposed to the 29,988 that SpaceX had requested, despite the fact that it had requested permission to launch nearly 30,000 v2 satellites. That is still more than twice as many as SpaceX is operating at the moment.
But most of all, Elon Musk just unveiled a Skynet-like program that will change the art of war. How will the tech billionaire achieve this? Let’s find out!

The Version 1 (v1) satellite deployment by SpaceX started in 2019. SpaceX swiftly surpassed all other satellite operators in the globe thanks to their Falcon 9 rocket, which has the capacity to launch up to 60 Starlink nodes at a time. The capabilities of the existing satellite designs, which weigh roughly 650 pounds (295 kilograms), are not enough for Elon Musk’s Starlink aspirations.
With a weight of about 3,000 pounds (1,250 kilograms), the more powerful Starlink Version 2 (v2) will be much bigger.
The limited license is a response to a number of worries, not the least of which is that Starlink satellites might sabotage astronomical observations. Since SpaceX started assembling their megaconstellation using smaller satellites, scientists have been raising the alarm about it. Tens of thousands of larger satellites could be launched, which could drastically worsen the situation. The FCC also mentioned potential problems with orbital congestion that can result in collisions with other satellite networks and spacecraft. Therefore, only certain heights were permitted for the v2 deployment.
The FCC asserts that this grant actually results in a reduction in the total number of SpaceX satellite authorizations. It was authorized to run a total of 12,000 Starlink nodes, but currently only manages about 3,200 of them.
There were more than 7,500 unused licenses from SpaceX’s V-band network that will be combined with the second-generation network, and it may still be able to get approval for additional satellites in the future. In order to prevent SpaceX’s new satellites from interfering with ongoing research, the FCC will also demand that the company work in concert with NASA and the National Science Foundation.
Starlink’s beta service was launched on 2020, which provided speeds close to 100Mbps. Even though Starlink is still far faster than conventional satellite internet, it is getting more crowded as more people sign up for it. A 1TB monthly data cap was most recently applied to the service by SpaceX.
However, we wouldn’t anticipate any quick progress. SpaceX must use the Starship rocket that is now under development to launch its larger satellites, but the company has not yet tested the rocket in space.
SpaceX offered Ukraine a large number of satellite communication devices during the Russia-Ukraine conflict in order to supply it with high-speed internet access. Starlink might interact with UAVs and, utilizing big data and facial recognition technology, may have already contributed to Ukraine’s military operations against Russia in addition to facilitating communication, according to analysts’ estimates.
