Elon Musk Just HINTED A Hydrogen Car That WIll Shock Toyota!
Elon Musk surprised his Twitter followers this morning when he revealed that, despite his doubts for many years, he will be venturing Tesla’s to hydrogen in 2024. Likewise he said the Model H will aptly be the name of the first fuel cell-powered vehicle to appear.
Fuel cells for hydrogen had previously been dubbed “fool cells” by Musk, who also described the technology as “mind-bogglingly stupid.” The quick about-face is likely to be caused by terminal issues that sprang up during the bulk manufacture of the 4680 battery or maybe a direct competition to other automakers who are producing HFCV’s.

Different fuel technologies are now competing in this transitional stage while the whole automobile industry evolves towards electric vehicles (with certain exceptions). The opposition is looking at options to take the lead in other categories now that Tesla is out in front with battery electric cars (BEVs). Toyota, the biggest automaker in the world, is an excellent example. Toyota, a leader in hybrid vehicles thanks to the well-known Prius, has typically avoided BEVs and was late to the game with its quirky but reliable bZ4X crossover. While Toyota is skilled at producing strong battery-powered electric vehicles, it is also placing bets on a few other technologies, one of which is hydrogen, the element that is found in the greatest abundance in the universe.
Toyota is looking into hydrogen fuel cells as a method to power its future electric vehicles and lead that market, rather than trying to compete head-on with Tesla. As evidenced by the fact that its hydrogen-fueled Mirai is currently in its second iteration. To be clear, Tesla’s vehicles are powered by batteries, not significantly different from those that power your laptop. On the contrary, electric vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells operate differently. In the sense that electric motors propel the vehicles, they are similar, however in the case of hydrogen fuel cells, they are different when it comes to charging or refueling.
How Tesla Feels About Hydrogen Fuel Cells
In regards to his views on hydrogen fuel cells, Elon Musk has been outspoken. It frustrates him. He also makes reference to it in his tweet. A reporter asked him about his stance on hydrogen fuel cells back in 2015, and the video below displays his response both then and in 2022. He doesn’t appear to be changing his mind anytime soon. until recently.
Toyota may be putting money into hydrogen in an effort to make it a viable option and because they would avoid having to compete with companies like Tesla and Elon Musk and instead could be the market leaders. The best marketing approach is diversification. However, Tesla is aware of this too, which is the very reason he will introduce the Tesla Model H.
The world’s leading producer of electric vehicles, Tesla has seen success with its automobiles in terms of sales. However, going the EV way has its drawbacks, the main ones being the driving range and recharge durations. Despite the fact that its batteries include characteristics that help with energy storage and conservation, they can only run cars for a limited period of time before you need to plug them into the electrical grid for a recharge.
