Elon Musk Just SHOCK The EV World With A New Tesla!
The much-delayed Cybertruck and the new Roadster will not be delivered by the end of 2022, but Tesla is already refocusing on the development of a smaller, less expensive model that could have a greater impact on EV adoption.
Elon Musk has said it before, but he will say it again if pressed. Musk was asked about developing a smaller, more affordable car while virtually attending the B20 conference in Indonesia. The moderator proposed naming it the Model I for India or Indonesia. It’s a common question, but with competitors also aiming for a lower price point, Tesla must find a way to get there.
Musk reacted to the topic charmingly, “I can’t speak too much to the future of Tesla product development, except to say that we do think that making a much more affordable vehicle would make a lot of sense and we should do something.”
It is something Tesla must do. According to Volvo CEO Jim Rowan, EVs should be on par with gas cars in a couple of years.

For some time, rumors of a vehicle positioned beneath the current entry point, the Model 3, have circulated. Tesla CEO Elon Musk denied developing such a model earlier this year, saying, “We have enough on our plate right now, quite frankly.”
The year 2022, however, has seen Tesla double its manufacturing pace, put its three millionth car through the assembly line, and frequently top sales charts in major geographic areas. Musk now seems to have decided that it is time to fight for increased affordability.
He stated to analysts at a financial result briefing recently: “We’ve done the engineering for the Cybertruck and Semi [Tesla’s lorry], so you can guess what we’re working on, which is the next-generation vehicle that will be about half the cost of the Model 3 and Y platform. It will be smaller, to be fair, but I think it will shortly exceed production of all our other vehicles combined.”
Although the baby Tesla might potentially reduce the current list price of a Model 3 (from $58,200) in half, cutting the cost of manufacture in half is not a guarantee. However, it’s safe to suggest that the sub-Model 3 car might conceivably begin at about $25,000. That would significantly expand the potential market for Tesla and give the business a competitor against Chinese models from manufacturers like MG and BYD as well as European-made electric hatchbacks like Volkswagen’s ID.3.
Images of the Tesla’s current lineup, scaled down to indicate how a baby model may seem, have been extensively circulated online. With a length of roughly 4.4 meters, it should be positioned as a challenger for traditional family hatchbacks. A more angular back roofline could accomplish that while still allowing for a typical bonnet with baggage room underneath it.
The Model 3 was picked as a reverse of the Model E, which Ford had first advised Tesla against using, thus even while internet rumors refer to the automobile as the Model 2, this badge is by no means assured to be utilized.
Musk said that the engineers at Tesla are currently focusing their efforts on the less expensive, smaller model.
