The largest press in the world is being delivered to Tesla at the Gigafactory Texas, where it will once again be used to produce Cybertrucks.
A new 9,000-ton Giga Press that would win the title of largest in the world was hinted at by Idra, the company that created Tesla’s massive casting press, last year. It was speculated that the new equipment will be for Tesla given the companies’ affiliation with Idra.

When it was announced that manufacturing of the eagerly awaited Cybertruck will start this summer, Tesla supporters and investors rejoiced.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, stated that the all-electric Cybertruck is on schedule to start production by early 2023 at the company’s Q4 2022 Earnings Call on Wednesday night. “We do expect production to start sometime this summer, but I always kind of downplay the start of production because the start of production is always very slow,” added Musk.
The beginning of a vehicle’s production, according to Musk, is also not that significant because it is a slow process, and the company will continue to improve its methods for making the car as time goes on. The main focus is on volume production, which is where Tesla will make a substantial gap in the 1.5 million car orders it has received for the Cybertruck since it was unveiled in 2019. Volume production, which was previously anticipated to start in late 2023, will now start in 2024, according to Musk.
As a result of its outstanding features and futuristic style, the Cybertruck has become one of the most highly anticipated vehicles of the decade. It was first unveiled in 2019 and has since attracted a lot of media attention. A fully electric drivetrain with a range of more than 500 miles and a towing capacity of more than 14,000 pounds is planned for the Cybertruck. We should see the Cybertruck on the road in no time since production is scheduled to start this summer.
In addition, Tesla stated that the making of the Cybertruck “remains on track to begin” later this year in the Shareholder Deck for the call. The business has made strides in the manufacturing process by establishing tools including body shops for general assembly and castings that will be used in the construction of the Cybertruck. The IDRA 9,000-ton Giga Press, which will be used to make the body of the Cybertruck, is currently being put together, according to a recent drone flyover of Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas.
Despite the fact that some people might be unhappy by the delay, Tesla told investors that the production tools required for the Cybertruck’s assembly, including the castings for the electric pickup’s body, have already started to be placed at the company’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
Industry insiders have cautioned that the Cybertruck’s development schedule must be sped up if it is to make the desired impact on the increasingly competitive electric vehicle market. The Ford F-150 Lightning, GMC Hummer EV, Rivian R1T, and maybe the Chevy Silverado EV and RAM 1500 EV are just a few of the vehicles that Tesla faces competition from. According to Jessica Cawell, Executive Director of Insights at Edmunds, “the downside for Tesla is that the Cybertruck almost seems like old news.”
