Elon Musk SLAMS Ford CEO Over Tesla Cybertruck!

Elon Musk has brushed off smug remarks from the current Ford CEO regarding electric pickup truck sales.

Hello everyone and welcome back to Elon Musk Evolution where we keep you up to date on all the latest news and gossip relating to our favorite South African billionaire Elon Musk and his globally renowned companies. In today’s video, we will find out about how Musk has brushed off Ford CEO Jim Farley’s recent remarks about Ford’s lead in the sale of electric pickup trucks.

Elon Musk and his flagship electric car company Tesla have been making headlines ever since the company took the decision to make electric cars on a large scale.

Development of Tesla

Tesla was initially founded July 2003 by business partners Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, whom served as CEO and CFO respectively. Eberhard stated that he wanted to build “a car manufacturer that is also a technology company”, with its core technologies being “the battery, the computer software, and the proprietary motor.”

By February 2004, the company generated $7.5 million in series A funding – with almost all of it ($6.5 million) coming from Elon Musk. With the funding, Musk became the largest shareholder of the startup and also Chairman of the board of directors.

The first project that Musk and his startup team focused on was developing a fully electric premium sports car aimed at early adopters. Later on, they would move on to more mainstream vehicles like sedans and SUVs and later on, a fully electric pickup truck as well.

Prototypes for the model, later to be dubbed the Tesla Roadster, were first unveiled in July 2006. By 2008, Tesla began full-scale production of the Roadster. By January of 2009, Tesla raised $187 million in total (with $70 million of that amount coming directly from Musk) having already delivered 147 cars.

In June of 2009, Tesla was granted a government loan of $465 from the United States Department of Energy for the purpose of the development of Tesla’s forthcoming luxury sedan project – The Model S.

In May 2010, Tesla bought Toyota’s Fremont, California factory for $42 million in order to build the Model S. Unlike the niche production and sales of the earlier Roadster, having sold a total of only 1300 units, Musk planned big for the Model S and hence spent a large sum to acquire the California plant. By June of the same year, the company went public with its IPO released on the NASDAQ stock exchange.

By January 2012, the company discontinued production of the Roadster and finally launched the long-awaited Model S. After its release, the new model won various accolades including Motor Trend Car of the Year in 2013. It also became the top car sold in a country when in November 2013, it became Norway’s highest selling vehicle. In the years 2015 and 2016, it was also the global best-selling plug-in electric vehicle.

In September 2015, the company next launched its third vehicle – the Tesla Model X luxury SUV. It was developed from the Model S platform (sharing around 30 percent of content) and in only its first year, ranked 7th among the world’s bestselling plug-in cars.

In July 2017, Tesla released its fourth iteration, the Model 3 sedan intended for the mass market. As we earlier mentioned, one of Musk’s primary goals was to eventually develop a mass market EV for the majority and late adopters.

The Model 3 was like the Roadster, notoriously known for its production delays and issues. In fact, Musk even at one time considered taking the company private due to the public scrutiny he suffered.
