Elon Musk’s SpaceX Just SMASHED Launch Record That SHOCKS NASA!
Over the course of its first 20 years, SpaceX has transformed the spaceflight landscape. Falcon. Dragon. Starlink. Starship. Starman. SpaceX has made significant contributions to the vernacular of spaceflight, demonstrating how far the firm has progressed in its first two decades.
So, how did the tech billionaire make this happen? Stay tuned as we are going to show you the most notable events of Elon Musk’s 20-year-old company!

In 2001, a Russian rocket designer spat on Elon Musk’s shoes, which gave him the idea to start making his own rockets.
According to a book about the commercialization of space written by former NASA deputy administrator Lori Garver, “This act so completely offended Elon that he decided on the flight home that he would start his own rocket company to compete with them.” She also added, “If Helen of Troy had a face that launched a thousand ships, this was the spit that launched a thousand spaceships.”
In order to clinch a deal to purchase space rockets for a future journey to Mars, Musk was in Russia at the time. His original aim was to build the “Mars Oasis,” a greenhouse on the planet Mars.
The episode was also discussed by Jim Cantrell, a co-founder of SpaceX, in a Channel 4 documentary that aired in May and in Ashlee Vance’s biography of Musk, “Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.”
Less than a year later, in 2002, Musk formed SpaceX under the name Space Exploration Technologies Corporation. Musk has been engaged in a long-standing competition with Russia, which finally led to SpaceX being a rival to Russia’s Soyuz rocket.
In 2005, SpaceX’s first rocket, the Falcon 1, was unveiled.
The Falcon 1 rocket was an expendable two-stage to orbit launch vehicle that cost roughly $100 million to manufacture, and Musk named the rocket Falcon in a homage to the Millennium Falcon from “Star Wars.”
A year later, the corporation debuted its second spacecraft, which it called the Dragon and named after the Peter, Paul, and Mary song “Puff the Magic Dragon.” Musk claimed that he chose the moniker because many people thought his plans for the company were impractical.
The business was one of the very few at the time to make an effort to build a commercial space rocket.
Musk had committed a third of his income in the space project by 2006 after earning millions when PayPal was acquired by eBay. Along with funding from the US Department of Defense for its first two Falcon launches, the business also received $278 million from NASA as part of the agency’s Commercial Orbital Transportation Services program.
Three failed launch attempts by SpaceX between 2006 and 2008, according to Musk, nearly brought the company to an end.
Due to a fuel leak and subsequent fire, SpaceX’s first launch attempt in 2006 was unsuccessful. A fuel-line nut had deteriorated as a result of the proximity of the ocean spray, according to a later analysis of the launch vehicle. As a result, SpaceX changed their design to use stainless steel components in place of aluminum.
The following two launches successfully completed the initial phase of flight, but problems after satellite separation prevented the spacecraft from entering orbit.
