Elon Musk’s Starship Flight Test 2 Still NO GO!

On Friday, as a result of a US authority ordering the business to make necessary adjustments before they could acquire a launch permit, SpaceX’s Mars rocket Starship may remain grounded on the launch pad for some time. What are these adjustments and is SpaceX prepared for this? Let’s find out!

Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, stated last week that a new Starship had been positioned at SpaceX’s Starbase pad in Boca Chica, Texas, and that the rocket was “ready to launch, awaiting FAA licence approval.”

After the initial launch in April was aborted due to a technical problem, this would be the rocket’s second test flight.

The rocket’s second stage wouldn’t separate from the booster, so engineers had to deliberately blow it up in midair.

They still had “plenty of data” from the mission, according to Musk’s remarks at the time, so they might try again.
A probe into what went wrong was started by the US Federal Aviation Administration as a result of the accident.

The FAA announced on Friday that it had finished its review after finding 63 corrective measures SpaceX must take to avoid problems from happening again.

Due to the need to first obtain an FAA permit, SpaceX may have to delay launching their Starship rocket for a while.

The FAA issued a statement on Friday saying that the conclusion of the crash investigation did not indicate that Starship launches at Boca Chica would immediately resume.

Prior to the launch of the next Starship, SpaceX must carry out any corrective measures that have an impact on public safety, as well as apply for and obtain from the FAA a license amendment that satisfies all applicable safety, environmental, and other regulatory requirements.

And so, what was SpaceX must correct?

Concerns were raised during the first orbital test flight due to the significant amount of debris that was strewn around the area.

Environmentalists were especially alarmed by the explosion because Boca Chica is surrounded by protected territories that are home to regional wildlife.

After engineers requested a “rapid unplanned disassembly”—a procedure that instantly destroys the rocket—chunks of the Starship fell back to Earth.

When the accident occurred, it had a maximum height of 39 km above the Gulf of Mexico.

Shortly afterwards, a new post from SpaceX describing “Upgrades ahead of Starships’s second flight test” was published; it didn’t specifically mention the 63 actions, but its descriptions on why the first test flight lost control reflect what the FAA claims needs to be fixed.

The Super Heavy rocket’s propellant leak, according to a SpaceX post, “eventually severed connection with the vehicle’s primary flight computer,” which was enough to shut down communication with the majority of the booster engines and send the aircraft careening out of control. The Autonomous Flight Safety System (AFSS) also automatically ordered the Starship to sever, however there was a “unexpected delay” before the detonators went off, which caused the Starship to disintegrate 237 seconds after launch.
