Elon Musk’s Tesla Semi SLAMS Other Electric Trucks!
The EV community has been curious about the real-world performance of the Tesla Semi ever since it was formally delivered to its first customer in December of last year.
The PepsiCo Tesla has been put through testing over the past few months by the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE), an independent organization in the US.
And finally, result shows how the Tesla Semi outperforms other electric trucks. And that we will find out in today’s episode!

A very intriguing picture of the Tesla Semi’s performance both independently and in comparison to other electric vehicles is now being compiled by NACFE and Pepsico, the company that purchased the first model of the Semi.
In comparison to its rivals, these findings demonstrate how well Tesla’s Semi has fared. NACFE claims that the driving range, charging efficiency, and performance are the three main parameters it used to accomplish this while delivering items when full.
Because of how successfully the Semi has performed, the transportation industry as a whole has begun to take notice and assess whether battery electric vehicles can function effectively in the real world.
In light of this and the fact that driving range is a crucial industry metric, one of the Tesla Semi trucks amazed the organizers and challenge observers at the end of the eighteen-day NACFE Run on Less competition by covering 1,732 km (1,076 miles) in a single day. Throughout the challenge, the same truck traveled 923 km on average.
In the challenge, this was compared with other electric trucks, which included:
Freightliner’s eCascadia – averaged 291 km
Volvo VNR Electric – averaged 282 km
WattEV’s Nikola Tre BEV – averaged 410 km
According to the initial reports, the Semi appears to have a large lead when it comes to average daily distance travelled.
However, it’s unclear if the other trucks were operating on a comparable path or if the demands of their specific routes required them to travel farther than the daily averages.
Although the event organizers have previously disclosed that the average weights have been roughly 31.8 tonnes (70,000 lbs), the precise loading of these vehicles has not been disclosed.
Regarding charging, the Semi that completed the journey of almost 1,700 miles on day 17 of the challenge made three 750 kW stops for charging.
The truck’s 3% level of charge was increased to nearly 90% during the third, longer charging break, which occurred about midday and lasted for more than an hour. The first two of these stops lasted less than 45 minutes.
In the upcoming weeks, additional information and findings from the NACFE Run for Less challenge should be made available. This will serve to highlight the current state of electric truck technology, which will contribute to the decarbonization of heavy road transportation in the ensuing decades.
