The concept of sending humans to Mars has been an exciting idea for decades, and the direction of space travel in the 21st century is finally presenting the possibility of actually making that happen!
As Elon Musk and SpaceX’s talented engineers are developing powerful Starships that will soon take astronauts returning to the Moon after half a century, and finally Mars and other distant places in the Solar System.
This presents a number of challenges, not the least of which are the effects of prolonged exposure to radiation and microgravity.
And whereas there are many viable options for protecting crews from radiation, gravity remains a bit of a stumbling block. To address this, creating artificial gravity is an urgent requirement.
But how exactly will the SpaceX Starship generate artificial gravity on long trips such as to Mars?
The answer will be revealed in today’s episode as Elon Musk finally reveals artificial gravity Starship!

Artificial gravity could revolutionize space exploration and off-Earth tourism.
If you don’t know, artificial gravity is the creation of an inertial force in a spacecraft, in order to emulate the force of gravity. This concept is often seen in but is not limited to science-fiction shows like “Star Trek”, and researchers are currently working on methods to create artificial gravity in space.
Not only would the creation of artificial gravity simplify the next era of space exploration, making tasks more straightforward, but it would also be crucial for potential space tourism.
The effects of microgravity in space can actually be harmful to humans, so as we look at longer crewed missions, including journeying to Mars, artificial gravity could be essential to our astronauts’ health.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk revealed in March via Twitter that he now sees 2029 as the earliest date humans might first step on Mars. That would be 60 years since the first moon landing in 1969.
