It’s happened! Elon Musk almost destroyed Falcon Heavy…

SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket, while not necessarily the most historically significant, largest, or most powerful rocket ever made, is undeniably still the epitome of cool.
From launch to landing, the Falcon Heavy is a sight to behold and a true spectacle of science and engineering in action.
However, as Musk emphasized many times, success was hardly a given.
And in fact, Elon Musk almost destroyed Falcon Heavy up to 3 times.
Find out everything about this in today’s episode of Alpha Tech:
Concepts for a Falcon Heavy launch vehicle using three Falcon 1 core boosters, with an approximate payload-to-LEO capacity of two tons, were initially discussed as early as 2003.
However, it was not until 2011, SpaceX officially unveiled its intention to build the Falcon Heavy, crafting it as a vehicle essentially made out of three combined Falcon 9s, the company’s currently most-used rocket.
At the time, Musk thought the Falcon Heavy would launch in 2013, but the project promptly entered years of development hell.
“We tried to cancel the Falcon Heavy program three times at SpaceX, because it [was] way harder than we thought”.
Remember at that time, Gwynne Shotwell had to sprint to the conference room and remind him that the U.S. Air Force, a very important customer, had already purchased a ride on this rocket!
Indeed, the work has proven to be “way, way more difficult” than SpaceX originally expected.
