Just Happened! Elon Musk Announced NEW Starship Flight 5 Launch Date…
Deep in flames, stepping towards flight!
We were still captivated by the recent static fire test of Ship 30, but SpaceX just had to go and surprise us with a fresh perspective by sharing another viewing angle of the test. There’s much to discuss here.
Additionally, Elon Musk made an important revelation about the new launch schedule for Flight 5. Are you ready?
And finally, the Falcon 9 has returned after a two-week hiatus, exceeding all our expectations.
So, let’s kick off the new week with plenty of exciting updates on today’s episode of Great SpaceX!
Just Happened! Elon Musk Announced NEW Starship Flight 5 Launch Date…
We are well on our way to Flight 5! As part of the preparations, SpaceX recently conducted a static fire test with Ship 30 (S30), the vehicle for this mission.
The test demonstrated the ongoing success and reliability of the systems, including the new heat shield and the upgraded Raptor Vacuum engine. Conducted on the flame trench system built by SpaceX earlier this year, the test was a sight to behold. From a distant angle, the moment the engines fired, the smoke and dust rising to one side created an overwhelming and impressive scene.

But this time, we get to see it from an unprecedented angle—right below the launch pad. This is quite a feat, as placing a camera in this position is typically impossible. When the engines fire, they generate massive thrust, extreme temperatures, and immense pressure that can destroy anything in their path. However, SpaceX showcased their capabilities by releasing this video on X with the message: “Slow motion view of Flight 5 Starship’s Raptor engines during static fire.” Elon Musk also reacted to the video, commenting, “Fast flame in slow motion.”
But thanks to this bold angle, we have more interesting discoveries about this test.
