Elon Musk’s social media platform X is under fire from the EU for transparency issues, including selling “checkmarks” that were once reserved for verified users.
The European Commission announced that X violated the new Digital Services Act, which aims to regulate online content. Preliminary findings from an investigation, started last year, revealed that after Musk’s $44 billion takeover, allowing anyone to buy a blue checkmark could mislead millions of users.
