SpaceX FINALLY FOUND A Solution To Prevent More Damage From The 33 Raptor Engine!
For rocket launches, billowing smoke and flames are typical. But razed launchpads and wreckage that are dispersed throughout the surrounding wetland areas most certainly are not. And in today’s episode we are going to find out how catastrophic is the damage on the ground after the first flight attempt of SpaceX’s Starship!

Do you agree that the test launch of SpaceX’s massive Starship, the largest aircraft ever flown, on April 20 was not your usual rocket launch? The tremendous power and frequent reusability of Starship are expected to transform spaceflight as a whole and enable the landing of NASA astronauts on the moon as early as 2025. As a result, expectations for the system are quite high. For this test flight, however, which aimed to send Starship on a close orbit around the Earth, the minimum requirement was significantly lower because, according to SpaceX officials, just getting off the launch pad would constitute a success.
In many ways, Starship went above and beyond that objective. Starship, mounted atop its gigantic 33-engine Super Heavy booster, cleared the pad with such force that it only left behind a smouldering crater and a few wide-spreading showers of pulverized debris. Prior to several premature engine shutdowns and the unsuccessful separation of the first-stage booster sent the rocket tumbling out of control, it was in the air for a short while. This activated the automated flight termination system on Starship, and after a delay of around 40 seconds that was longer than expected, the behemoth blew up, sending its fragments into the sea.
Regardless of the technical hiccups, many aerospace experts nevertheless saw the flight as a success for the enormous amount of information it provided to SpaceX engineers using the company’s “iterative design” process to quickly enhance future hardware. Though the implications—for Starship itself and SpaceX’s southern Texas Starbase launch site—got murkier as the smoke cleared and the effects of the launch became clear. At the very least, it is likely that the unanticipated site damage—along with a new lawsuit challenging the permitting procedure that allowed it to happen—will postpone further flights by the enormous craft.
The sheer extent of the dust cloud created by the launch astounded onlookers. “At first, I didn’t realize it was an anomaly of the launchpad—I thought it was just the nature of this rocket,” recalls Philip Metzger, a physicist at the University of Central Florida who formerly worked on launchpad technology at NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre. “The amount of smoke and dust that rose from the launchpad was insane. I had never seen anything so large before.
Other sources of smoke included a launch-sparked fire that, according to a US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) statement, scorched nearly 3.5 acres of a nearby wildlife sanctuary. After the company reopened access to the adjacent Boca Chica Beach, FWS authorities conducted a thorough inspection of the area surrounding SpaceX’s Starbase facility about 48 hours after the fire broke out.
