SpaceX Just Revealed NEW Major Starship Launch Date! Musk declared…
No Starship launch in early August! What happened? Elon Musk has just announced the NEW Starship Flight 5 launch timeline.
Let’s find out on today’s episode of Alpha Tech.
What is the reason for this new delay? Is it an issue with the engineering of Starship? or other reasons?
In a recent video conference held on July 28, Elon Musk shared the latest details regarding the highly anticipated Starship Flight 5.

Firstly, and importantly, Musk highlighted a delay in the Starship flight schedule. Previously, following the fourth launch in June, Musk had indicated that Starship would fly towards the end of July or early August. Now, this timeline has been pushed back to late August or early September. This means that nearly three months will pass between the fourth and fifth flights, a similar gap to the one between the third flight in March and the fourth in June. While this isn’t an excessively long wait, it does raise questions about why Musk had to push the launch date back by a whole month from the initial estimate. Is there an issue with Starship?

Well, Musk candidly addressed this in the video, explaining that the delay is due to the delay in awaiting launch permits from the FAA. Many might find this detail puzzling, given that there had been reports suggesting the FAA allowed SpaceX to launch without needing a new permit. However, in reality, this agency has confirmed that SpaceX has requested modifications to its current Starship launch license.
Originally, the plan was to land the booster in the Gulf of Mexico, a location that provided ample space and minimized risks to infrastructure and personnel. This method involved guiding the massive booster to a controlled splashdown in the ocean, where it could be retrieved and reused for future missions. The Gulf of Mexico was selected due to its vast expanse, which offered a safe and relatively simple environment for these early test landings.
However, SpaceX has now requested to change the landing site from the Gulf of Mexico to the Boca Chica Beach launch tower. This new plan involves landing the super heavy booster back at the launch tower using two giant arms, dubbed “Chopsticks,” designed to grab and guide the descending booster onto the launch platform.
