With the hectic pace of work and daily plan change on SpaceX’s Starship, it seems if you blink, you will miss a lot!
While attention has been on prototypes S24 and Booster 7 for the first orbital flight, SpaceX is also charging ahead with at least five mega-rockets in 2023.
Start with Ship 25.
Kevin Randolph recently took a picture of Ship 25 moved into the Masseys test site.
He also shared: “feeling like Oprah is out here saying “You get a Starship, you get a Starship, you all get a Starship!!!”
Masseys test site is a new place at Starbase.
On Sunday, January 8, Musk shared that SpaceX acquired a gun range near Starbase to use the land. –“Massey’s gun range is being turned into a rocket test facility. Perfect match,” he wrote via Twitter. The location is approximately 15-minutes away from the launch site, along the same Highway 4 road. The acquired land is expected to be used for Raptor engine testing and repairs.
Since SpaceX operations began in 2019, it has attracted hundreds of tourists to Boca Chica Beach. People would go check out the Starbase launch site and then go to ‘Massey’s Gun Shop & Range’ for target practice activities. According to local residents, the shooting range is still open at a different location along the State Highway 4 road that leads to Starbase.
Back to Ship 25, the trip is not it’s first.
Starship S25 first headed to SpaceX’s South Texas launch and test facilities on October 19th, 2022, shortly after the vehicle was fully assembled. Around three weeks of testing followed, and SpaceX installed Ship 25 on a static fire test stand last month.
