Philanthropist, visionary, decisive, and dynamic, Elon Musk is a jack of all trades. Including buying Twitter as he promised last year, it’s no surprise that Elon Musk runs his own private space network known as SpaceX and his newly found innovation, StarLink, which propagates consistent broadband internet service to the whole world. Or is there quite possibly more than what meets the eye? But before that, is Elon Musk deploying Spy satellites? And what is StarShield and how does it work? Is it some kind of all-seeing artillery weapon?
In October 2020, Elon Musk unveiled his ambitious system for low-cost, high-speed satellite internet, StarLink. But with a small beta user base, it has expanded to a user base of more than 500,000 clients in less than two years. StarLink, which was created to provide quick internet connections to rural users in the first place, has found use in the military. For several months, StarLink terminals on the ground and satellites in orbit have supported communications for the Ukrainian Army as it has repelled Russian attacks.
This is done through expanding network of private satellites circling above. Despite the fact that StarLink satellites are frequently in the news, many odd facts about the system are ignored. More than 3,000 StarLink satellites are currently in orbit, and SpaceX plans to launch a sizable number more. Numerous other applications for the ground-breaking constellation are both planned for and already implemented.
StarLink satellites frequently make headlines due to the staggering number of launches SpaceX is able to pull off each year, as well as the effects the satellites have had on astronomy and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
